Jim Delligatti, an early McDonald’s franchise owner, invented the Big Mac in 1967. The Big Mac was originally tested in a few of Delligatti’s McDonald’s restaurants in the Pittsburgh area before being added to the national menu in 1968.
- Ingredients: The Big Mac is made with two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions on a sesame seed bun. The special sauce is similar to Thousand Island dressing, but the exact recipe is a secret.
